Common Questions
What is the County Clerk requirement?
In Hawaii the extra step is at the Circuit Court, not a County Clerk: for notarized documents (such as a power of attorney, affidavit or educational record), the notary's signature must first be certified at the Circuit Court Legal Documents Office of the circuit court where the notary is registered.
Can I walk in?
Yes. The Office of the Lieutenant Governor (State Capitol, 5th Floor, 415 S. Beretania St., Honolulu) accepts walk-in and drop-box submissions Monday to Friday, 7:45 AM to 4:30 PM. Processing takes an estimated 7 to 10 business days; no expedited service is available.
