What is the County Clerk requirement?
None. The North Carolina Secretary of State apostilles documents signed before a North Carolina notary public; certified copies from offices such as the Register of Deeds, Clerk of Superior Court and NC Vital Records need no notarization. There is no separate County Clerk step.
Can I walk in?
Yes. You may hand-deliver documents without an appointment to the Authentication Office, 2 South Salisbury Street, Raleigh. Hand-delivered documents are generally processed faster than mailed ones.
