How do I apostille a document in North Carolina?
North Carolina is unique. Before a document can be apostilled by the State, it must be authenticated by the County Clerk of the county where the notary or official is qualified. This adds an extra step and fee (~$3-$10) to the process.
Can I walk in?
Yes. The Department of State in Albaal (99 Washington Ave) and North Carolina City (123 William St) accept walk-ins. However, the ALC office only processes a limited number of documents and may have longer wait times.
